I’m getting an alert every 3 seconds along with a beeping sound. I tried pulling over and shutting off the car for about 10 to 15 minutes, but the alert keeps showing up when I turn it back on.
You mentioned this happens when using cruise control. It makes sense that these alerts might come up if the accelerator is still active while the car is braking. Maybe the cruise control isn’t turning off as quickly as it should when you hit the brakes. This could cause a situation similar to pressing the gas while trying to disengage. You could try using the brakes without cruise control first and then see how it goes with cruise on. Definitely something to check with a dealer, but it doesn’t seem too urgent if it’s just a cruise issue.
@MohaveMaverick
Yeah that’s what I was thinking too
@MohaveMaverick
Interesting thought you have there
Is your shifter in drive or manual mode? Have you tried switching between the two? I’d recommend bringing it back to the dealership for a check.

I’m 4 hours away from home. It’s in drive, not manual. I had to merge for a cop and pressed the brake when this alert started.
@TALIA
Aside from the beeping, is the car driving normally?

It’s driving perfectly.

Take it easy on the way back and have the dealership run a history check on it.
@zack
Maybe avoid using cruise control on the return trip too.

Just don’t drive too aggressively and get it checked as soon as you can. Any Kia dealer can help you out.
@Rafaela
Sounds good, thanks for the advice

They are closed on Sundays unfortunately

You should definitely check it out as soon as you get the chance.
Do you have paddle shifters on your steering wheel? Is the downshift button stuck or jammed? It might think you’re trying to downshift if that’s the case. A repair shop with the right tools should be able to check that quickly.
@Braint
The paddle isn’t stuck.

It could be that it’s not stuck physically but might be stuck electronically.
Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?
Maybe take it to a mechanic for a proper look.
How about disconnecting the positive battery cable for 5 minutes? It might just need a reset.
