My 2017 engine seized and Kia replaced it... all for free?

Kia replaced the engine in my 2014 Sorento two years ago. I’m pretty sure I’d never buy a Kia without that 10-year/100k drivetrain warranty.

Congrats on the new engine, but my 2019 didn’t qualify for the recall. Now I’ve gotta rebuild or get a new one. Sucks because I’m upside down on it.

There are lawsuits over Kia’s engine issues. Tons of people had the same problem and weren’t covered, hence the legal actions.

I’m looking to join one of those lawsuits. Kia Canada refused to replace my engine, even though the knock sensor came on.

My 2021 Soul had the same issue in December, and they replaced the engine. The new one only has a 12k-mile warranty though.

I didn’t know the 2017 Soul qualified for engine replacement. My niece has a 2018 with 75k miles, and the oil light came on while driving uphill. Had to add 3 quarts. Does the 2018 qualify?

I only knew because I got a letter about the lawsuit. Try looking up the Kia engine failure lawsuit online.

My wife’s 2017 Sportage just had its engine replaced. It was burning oil like crazy. Thankfully, they covered it.

Same thing happened to me, except it was running out of oil every two weeks. That’s when we figured out it needed a new engine.

Same thing happened to my 2017, but they also replaced the catalytic converter. It was over $11k in repairs. Also, a battery isn’t thousands :joy:

I meant the engine was thousands and the battery was $200.

Cool… when you visit Milwaukee, the Kia Boyz will have a stolen car with a brand-new engine :joy:

If you think car batteries cost thousands, you’re as clueless as most Kia owners. When the engine light comes on, you should address it immediately.

Dude, they said the battery cost $200, and they saved thousands on the engine. You misread the post.

@Kookhyun
Some people just can’t read between the lines, lol.

Yeah, you didn’t read it right. I’m not as dumb as you think I am lol.

Get your car battery from Costco if you can. 4-year warranty. If it dies, you just walk in, and they replace it.

So, were you driving with the check engine light or the oil light on?

This happened with my 2016 Veloster too. I was pretty stoked when they replaced the engine.

They denied my wife for the same issue at 55k miles. Paying on a car they know has problems is infuriating.
