I got my 2024 K5 just over a year ago and already the chrome strip that runs from the trunk to the back door is missing. It just fell off somewhere… Never had something like this happen with any of my cars before. Anyone else seeing issues like this?
There’s a recall on this. If you bring it to the dealer, they should repair it for free.
Hmm, I had an Optima for 6 years and now drive a Stinger—haven’t had issues like that. Definitely check with your dealership. They might replace it under warranty.

I had two Optimas before this one with no problems. Just wanted to vent here. I’m sure they’ll sort it out though.
@GuyBolding
Totally get it, that’s rough .

Does that really matter? I’ve got a Sorento with 240k miles, but I know others with the same car who’ve had issues.
This is actually a pretty common issue - I work as a Kia tech.

Ah, good to know… I’ve had other Kias without any issues. Hopefully, the warranty covers this.

If you need it quickly, you can get the part cheap online and install it yourself!
@Benard
Why bother if it’s covered under the recall?

Not to change the subject, but as a Kia tech, do you have any thoughts on the 2024 Sportage hybrid? I’m considering one.
Seems like a common issue unfortunately.
Where was this assembled?
Looks like trim on K5s and Tellurides keeps falling off.
Guess the Cybertruck design team moved over to Kia.

This is an issue with K5s. There’s a recall, so if your car isn’t part of it, warranty will cover it. Just take it to Kia, they’ll fix it.
They place trim over a backing piece instead of using one solid part. My new Volvo’s trim is rock solid and won’t budge even if I tried to remove it.
Newer cars seem so fragile… My in-law’s Chevy did the same thing. Dealer ‘fixed’ it with some sealant, and the trim fell off two hours later. Ford has similar issues with Explorer trim too. It feels like we’re spending thousands on junk.
I think it looks better with black instead of chrome. Might just take mine off.
