I live in a cold place, and I’m wondering if anyone else has the issue where it takes over 15 minutes for their car to heat up the cabin? Even when I start the car on a cold day, I have to drive for quite a while before I start feeling any heat.
I’ve got a hybrid and feel the same way, even after running it remotely for 10 minutes. It’s frustrating.
I read in another group that Eco mode makes the heat take longer. They suggested switching to smart or sport mode to heat up faster.

That’s a good idea, I never thought about changing modes for that .
Mine doesn’t take that long to warm up. I do remote start 2-3 times because it turns off quickly. My other car is a 2020 Elantra GT, and that one takes ages to warm up and cools off fast after being turned off.

If you use the app, it runs longer. Sorry, I’m not sure what year your car is or if it uses the app.

I have a 2025 model, and the remote start through the app only runs for 10 minutes max. It doesn’t let me set it for longer.

Mine is from 2022, and it doesn’t have the app.
Yeah, the heat isn’t great. And when the car is in Eco mode, it struggles to pick up speed with the heat on. Smart mode seems better. This morning, it was 3°F, and it took 20 minutes to get warm enough. At least in smart mode, I could merge safely.
@Dolph
Eco mode cuts down performance and reduces the HVAC system’s ability to work properly to save on gas.

It would be nice if we could set a default drive mode.

For cars from 2022-2024, the mode stays set to whatever you last selected.
@alexander
Does it reset depending on how long the car’s been off? It seems like it always defaults to nothing after I turn it off.

I don’t think so, at least not on mine.
Try turning off the A/C and just use the heat and fan.
-20°C yesterday morning and my battery was completely dead. I had to jump it. Was disappointed it didn’t start in the cold. And yes, it takes a very long time for actual heat to come out.
If you’re using ‘auto’ climate control like I do, it defaults to floor vents, so you don’t feel the heat as much. If you switch to the mid-level dash vents, you can feel the heat more. I’ve noticed it more now that it’s been colder out.
I’m in ND, and it takes a couple of remote starts to warm up when it’s in the single digits or below zero.
I have a 2023, and yeah, my heat is pretty bad too. The engine needs to warm up almost fully before the air gets warm, and even then, when it’s on high, it doesn’t feel warm. I live in Canada, and it’s not even that cold yet. I can’t imagine how it’ll be at -20°C or colder. I’m taking it to the dealership and paying the diagnostic fee since it’s still under warranty. Hopefully, they can figure something out.
The temperature has dropped here too. It takes me two remote starts to get it warm. I guess it’s because it’s about 5°F. In the fall, it felt warm within five minutes.
