Hello Kia-lovers
I’ve been considering getting a Kia and was wondering who manufactures them. Are they part of a larger automotive group? Any info would be appreciated!
Hey guys, from what I know Hyundai Motor Group owns 40% of Kia, while Kia holds significant stakes in Hyundai’s subsidiaries and in-house suppliers. They jointly own their combined R&D divisions. Genesis, on the other hand, is fully owned by Hyundai.
Engineering is generally shared, operating as a separate entity that provides services to both Hyundai and Kia. Features often debut in Hyundai vehicles about a year before appearing in Kia models, though there are exceptions. Despite their close ties, their business divisions operate independently.

I think the Hyundai Motor group shares on Kia has gone down to just 33% in 2024. what really isn’t clear to me is, Who are the manufacturers though? Is it Kia Corp from south west Seoul in South Korea?
They’re under the wing of the Hyundai Motor Group. Hyundai is the older brother, but Kia has definitely found its own awesome style and personality. So, while they’re part of the same family, they have their own unique flair.
