I just bought a 2025 Kia Niro SX model and absolutely love it. It’s got all the features I wanted. I found a black box next to the tire kit, but I couldn’t find any info about it. It takes up quite a bit of space. Does anyone know what it is or what it does?
It’s probably the subwoofer. If you turn the car on and play music, go to the trunk and touch the box. You should feel it vibrate and hear the sound from it.

Ah, that makes sense! I bought the car last night and haven’t had the chance to go through everything yet. It does have the updated HK audio system. Thanks again .
I think that big black box with the cable harness is a subwoofer for the audio system.
I’m guessing it could be tire goo. It seems like it’s taking up the space where the tire would be, unless you have the plug-in. I have a 2023, so it might be different for you.

Sorry for the confusion, I meant the box above the tire repair kit (the one with the electrical wires).

Got it! I’m not sure either, but it could be the subwoofer. Just a guess for now.

I totally thought it was the tire goo as well. Looks like we both missed it.

It might be a tire inflator with a CO2 canister.
I’ve got a 2017 Touring model with the upgraded Harmon Kardon speakers, but I don’t have anything like this subwoofer. Should I be concerned?

Haha, I have one of these too. I thought it was just a battery! It’s so big for a subwoofer, and the sound is still lacking. I wonder if it sounds better without the cover on.
