While this is not directly related to Rio or Kia, I wanted to share my experience with the Turtle Wax Headlight Lens Restoration product.
When I installed HID lights on my Rio, I decided to do the same for my Odyssey. I immediately noticed the improvement due to the change in color temperature and the fact that 35W HID lights are three times brighter than halogens.
However, my headlights were so dirty and damaged that even with the HID lights, I did not achieve the improvement I was hoping for.
The image below shows the headlights of my Odyssey after washing, with only one having been restored.
I have experience with Honda cars, including a 1996 Civic that had problems with headlight hazing. At that time, I didn’t do much about it due to a lack of knowledge on how to address the issue. However, my current 2004 Accord’s headlights remain as clear as they were on the first day.
I’ve seen headlight restoration kits work wonders, but that’s next level! It’s crazy how much a clean headlight can improve visibility, especially with those HID lights.
If you haven’t already, you should definitely share that before-and-after pic with your local Kia community.
They’ll be blown away! It might even inspire someone else to give their headlights a makeover.
Have you considered using a headlight protector film after restoring them? It can help prevent future hazing and yellowing. Just a thought.
