Thinking of getting my first EV… is this deal worth it?

What do you all think about this? I’m considering taking the leap on my first electric car.

Honestly, that’s like a phone bill nowadays. I’d probably grab a second EV6 at that price just because I could.

This sounds too good to be true. Do you have all the details yet?

Not all of them yet. I should add I’m in Colorado, if that helps clarify things.

That makes a LOT more sense now.

Why does Colorado matter?

Colorado offers a $5,000 state tax credit on top of the $7,500 federal credit.

If you’re a dealer, it’s simple math: they collect $12,500 from tax credits, $6,250 from the buyer over 24 months, plus extra from documentation fees. The dealer makes a nice profit and still gets the car back or benefits if the buyer purchases it after the lease.

@Arthur
Good to know, thanks for explaining.

Colorado has a separate tax rebate, that’s why.

What’s the down payment? Miles per year? How long is the lease?

No down payment. 10k miles per year. 24 months.

That’s cheap, but a base model without upgrades might feel a bit plain. If you’re okay with that, it’s a solid deal.

I drive a pre-facelift Earth model with 77kWh and all the packages in Germany. Not a fan of the Air versions from Kia, though.

@TurboTraveler
Yeah, I don’t need all the extras, especially for this price. The Earth model is really nice, though.

I put $10k down on my 24 EV6 RWD GT-Line. Two-year lease with 10k miles a year. I pay $250/month. I’m based in PA.

Feels like one of those deals where they reel you in with 5,000 miles per year and then hit you with hidden costs. What’s the catch?

It’s 10k miles a year. I’ll update this thread if anything weird happens with the deal.

Yes, let us know if it’s legit or if there are strings attached.

It’s not a scam. Colorado adds a $5,000 state tax credit to the federal $7,500. It’s just a heavy government incentive pushing dealers to clear stock.

@Gerald
This deal sounds pretty standard for Colorado. They’ll likely try to sell you on extras like accessories or protection plans, but you can skip those.
