Hi everyone, I’m helping my friend who is looking into a Telluride as a family car. They’ve never had a KIA before, and I’m not sure what advice to give. The size and comfort seem perfect, but what about the quality?
Would love to hear any thoughts, both good and bad.
I’ve been driving Hyundai cars for over 20 years and four vehicles. My next one will definitely be a KIA Telluride, probably the 2026 model. Luckily, I’ve got a good dealership nearby.
I’ve done a lot of research before getting our 2022 Telluride, and after three years and 55k miles, I can say it’s a solid choice. It’s such a great family car that even my brother-in-law sold their Outlander to buy one. Definitely would buy it again.
I bought my 2023 SX Prestige AWD two years ago, and I absolutely love it. It’s a great value, but I recommend being picky about the dealership. My buying experience wasn’t great, and the service department is hit-or-miss. I’d buy the car again but from a different dealership. Good luck!
I bought mine last December, and I love it! No complaints except for the three recalls I’ve had to deal with, but they were fixed quickly during two visits, and I only had to wait about three hours in total. It’s good to see the company addressing issues proactively.
I’ve had mine since 2019 and currently have 92k miles on it. It’s been a good car overall, but I’ve had some issues that the dealership wouldn’t cover under warranty:
It’s started consuming oil, about 0.5 quarts every 1,000 miles. The dealership says up to 1.5 quarts per 1,000 miles is considered normal, which I find ridiculous.
After dealing with these issues out of pocket, I’m not planning to buy another Kia.

When did those problems with the brake caliper and axle boot start? I’ve got a 2021 with 55k, and this is making me nervous.
If I remember correctly, it was around 30–40k miles. The caliper caused the brake pad to wear down to the metal and ruin the rotor, while the other three wheels still had plenty of pad left.
By around 90k miles, you’ll likely run into oil consumption problems, and they won’t honour the warranty. I’m adding two quarts of oil every 1,000 miles now. It’s frustrating that corporate doesn’t seem to care.

I started seeing issues even at 70k. It’s a great car if you keep it until about 50k and then trade it in. Definitely not something I’d want to keep long-term.
We’ve only had ours for nine months and 5,500 miles, but so far, it’s been great. I’ve heard of issues at higher mileage, but hopefully, that’s far in the future. For now, no complaints.
I’ve got a 2024 Telluride and couldn’t be happier with it and the dealership I used. Every car will have problems eventually, but the warranty is there for a reason. I’d say check your local dealership reviews—if they’re good, it’s worth going for. Otherwise, consider another brand or dealer.
Since this forum is about the Telluride, most people here love it. Kia and Hyundai have really improved in terms of comfort and technology. I’ve had no issues in my two years of ownership, but I know some folks have had trouble with dealerships or service.
