Taking Delivery Tomorrow… What Should I Watch Out For?

Taking delivery on a 2025 Prestige X-Line tomorrow. Never taken delivery on a brand new vehicle before… Anyone got any tips? What should I be checking? Thanks in advance!

Have the salesperson take you through all the features. It’ll give you a solid baseline of everything the car can do.

Also, walk around the car and check for any scratches or defects. Sometimes they miss taking off the plastic.

Consider buying a wireless CarPlay Android Auto adapter. It’s really convenient not to have to plug your phone in.

When setting up Kia Connect, decide if you want to send your driving data. You get three years for free, but make sure you opt out of sending your data to insurance companies.

If you don’t like the engine stopping automatically, you can disable it using the ‘A’ button near the shifter. You’ll have to do this each time you start the car.

Keep the rearview mirror adjustment switch set to right or left, which will let the mirrors lower when you shift into reverse.

The digital rearview mirror might take some getting used to, as you’ll focus on the mirror when it’s active. I prefer using it during the day and switching it off at night.

Great advice. I wish I had seen this before taking delivery of my 24. Lots to learn! :sweat_smile:

@Isaac
Thanks for the tip on the mirrors lowering in reverse… I’m glad I’m used to the digital rearview from my current car!

Also, if you want to avoid the ‘auto start/stop’ feature, consider getting the auto stop eliminator. It’s about $100, and once it’s set up, you won’t need to hit the button every time you get in the car.

How was the installation for that?

It’s pretty easy. There’s a YouTube video for it. Just pop the center console cover, and then it’s pretty much plug and play.

@NeuralNexusNate
That sounds awesome! I didn’t even know this existed. Thanks for sharing.

Make sure they install mudflaps if they’re listed on the window sticker. Took me three months before I noticed they hadn’t been added.

I got a brand new 24 three months ago and I love it!

Make sure they don’t put the dealership’s badge or sticker on your car. If they do, make them remove it before you drive off.

Ask your salesman to walk you through every screen for the settings you’ll want to adjust.

Make sure they set up the digital key for you. A lot of people seem to have trouble with this. My dealer walked me through the whole process and made sure everything worked before I left.

Some extras to think about: get a nice set of mats. We got tux mats and they’ve been great.

As others mentioned, the wireless CarPlay is worth the $69 on Amazon.

They’ll probably hand you off to the finance person. If you need financing, have other options ready to ensure you get the best rate. Some finance people will try to push extended warranties and wheel coverage. It’s up to you, but I usually skip those. Also, make sure they don’t add extra costs like nitrogen for your tires.

What did you get for the cargo area? I’m looking for a mat/liner that works with the 3rd row up or down.

They make separate mats for the cargo area and 3rd row seat backs, so they work independently. The downside is you lose some of the coverage a full mat would provide. I currently have multi-piece mats but have been thinking about a single-piece mat for the garage that covers the cargo and 3rd row when needed. My car came with the OEM Carpet Cargo Mat with Seatback Protection, but I wanted something more durable, so I got no-name rubber mats from Amazon.

Here are some options:

Tux mat showing separate pieces

Weathertech has cargo vs cargo+3rd row mats

Smartliner has similar options to Weathertech

I was just looking at the off-brand ones on Amazon. How are yours holding up? Are you happy with them?

For the price, they’re great. I’m in the Vine program, so I get them ‘free’ for reviewing. I say ‘free’ because it’s added to my income come tax time, so it was about $20 instead of $70. They’re a little thin and not very raised on the sides, so probably best for lighter use, but they fit the seat back pieces just fine. They also come with velcro to hold the cargo mat down, but I didn’t use it. The built-in tabs work well enough. I use the under-cargo space a lot, and it works fine for that. The 3rd row mats slide under the cargo mat when they’re up, providing full coverage when down. Overall, they work well for the price.
