Random misfire after new engine install in 2015 kia sorento... crank or cam sensor?

hey everyone, i just had a reman engine put in my 2015 kia sorento 2.4 along with new parts like the starter, water pump, alternator, ignition coils, spark plugs, belt, pulleys/tensioner, and transmission fluid. it’s got about 600 miles on it now, but there’s a random misfire that feels like a slight hiccup most of the time, sometimes more noticeable. timing seems fine, and no codes are showing. could it be the crank sensor or cam sensor?

sounds like you’ve replaced almost everything. i’d check the crank and cam sensors if they weren’t replaced with the engine. they can sometimes cause misfires without throwing a code.

yeah, everything else is new except those. thinking it might be worth swapping them out.

if you haven’t done a smoke test yet, that might help rule out any vacuum leaks. even a tiny leak can mess with idle and cause minor misfires.

good idea, my husband’s planning to do a smoke test today. fingers crossed!

double-check the spark plugs and coils too—sometimes they don’t seat right and can cause random misfires, especially right after an install.

if you do replace the sensors, definitely go with oem parts for compatibility. they’re pretty affordable and usually fix these issues.

yeah, thinking oem is the way to go if i end up replacing them. thanks for the tip!

hope it smooths out soon! sounds like you’re close to solving it.
