Picanto has a missing cap… any ideas if it’s important?

Hi everyone,
I just noticed the cap on my Picanto 2 TA 2012 1.0 is missing. I had the air conditioning recharged recently, and I think it might be related. Do you know what this cap is for and if it matters that it’s gone? Can I ignore it or should I replace it? Thanks in advance for any advice.

That’s the cap for the AC charge point. It really should be there, but you’re the only one who can decide if it’s bothering you.

Thanks! So, it looks like the garage forgot it after recharging the AC.

I see, I guess what I meant to ask was, is it going to cause any problems if it’s left like this? Or is it something I can just leave off?

Cars shouldn’t need AC recharges. If it’s losing the refrigerant, it probably has a leak. Maybe check with another mechanic.

Thanks for the heads up! From what I gather, it’s true that in theory, recharging shouldn’t be necessary, but mechanics often recommend it, especially for older cars. I guess small leaks are common.

Maybe ‘annoying’ isn’t the right word here. Are you asking if it’s important instead?

Yeah, I think that’s it! Sorry, I’m not a native English speaker, so I may have used the wrong word. What I meant is, does the cap being gone affect how the AC works? Do I need to replace it or can it stay like this?

@carmenpratschner
You should replace it when you get a chance. It’s not super urgent, but that cap keeps dirt out of the valve, which is similar to a tire valve. If dirt gets in, it might cause trouble if you need to service the AC later.
