I have a 2006 Kia Amanti that threw a P0338 code for the crankshaft position sensor ‘A’. The car shut down but started back up after cooling down. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I’m planning to replace the sensor and check the connector. Any advice?
Yeah, crank sensors can act up like that when they get hot and fail temporarily. Check the connector too, as a loose or dirty connection could cause the issue.

Thanks! I’ll make sure to inspect the connector before replacing the sensor.
The sensor is located inside the timing cover near the crank. If you’re going to replace it, you might want to consider doing the timing belt too if it hasn’t been done recently.

Good call. I’ll check the timing belt’s condition and might replace both while I’m at it.
I had the same problem with my car last year. Replacing the sensor fixed it completely. Make sure to get a quality replacement part.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look for a good-quality sensor to avoid further issues.
If the code came back recently, it’s a good thing you caught it. These sensors tend to fail gradually before going out completely.

Yeah, I was glad the code finally showed up. It’s been acting weird for a while now.
You’re lucky it starts after cooling down. When mine went out, it stranded me. Definitely replace it ASAP.

That’s what I’m worried about. Hopefully, I can replace it before it leaves me stuck somewhere.
