One door lock working opposite from key on Kia Sorento... any ideas?

One of the door locks on my Kia Sorento is working opposite from the key fob. When I press the key fob to lock, it unlocks that door, and when I press to unlock, it locks the door. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Sounds like the door lock actuator might be faulty. It could be sending the wrong signal and causing the lock to work in reverse.

That makes sense. I’ll look into replacing the actuator.

It could be a wiring issue. Sometimes the wires get crossed, causing the door to lock and unlock the wrong way.

I’ll check the wiring too, just to make sure nothing is crossed.

Before replacing the actuator, try resetting the key fob. Sometimes it can get out of sync and cause issues like this.

I’ll give that a try and see if it helps.

I had the same problem on my Sorento, and replacing the actuator fixed it. It’s a pretty common issue.

Good to know it worked for you. I’ll probably go ahead and replace it.

Make sure to check if the problem is happening on just one door or multiple doors. If it’s just one, it’s probably the actuator. If it’s more than one, it could be the key fob or the central locking system.

@Zachariah
It’s just the one door. I’ll focus on the actuator for now.
