Hey everyone, I’ve been having some trouble with my 2017 Kia Sedona L. There’s a loss of power, especially when accelerating, and I’m getting a strong gas smell when driving. The engine light is on, and there’s even some smoke coming from the rear. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
It sounds like your engine might be misfiring, or there could be a fuel leak. Have you had the codes scanned yet?

Not yet. Planning to get it scanned soon. Just wanted to see if anyone had similar issues.

Good idea. If it’s a misfire, it could be something like spark plugs or coil packs. A scan should give you a better idea.
With that gas smell, I’d be careful driving it. Could be dangerous if there’s a leak somewhere.

Yeah, I was wondering if it’s safe to drive. Probably better to have it looked at ASAP.
@Brandy
Definitely. Might want to get a mobile tech to check it out if you can’t drive it safely.
Check with your dealer. Some Sedonas had recalls that covered engine issues, and if yours qualifies, you might get it fixed for free.

I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll call and see if there are any recalls that cover this.
The check engine light could be showing codes like P0300, which is a general misfire code. Best to get it scanned, but if it’s rough to drive, don’t push it.

Good to know. I’ll see if I can have someone scan it soon, and hopefully, it’s nothing too major.
Sounds rough. If you’re smelling gas and seeing smoke, it could be a fuel injector issue. But definitely don’t drive it until you know what’s up.

Yeah, I’ll play it safe and get it checked. Thanks for the heads up.
