I’ve been looking for a good dashcam, do you have any recommendations? Also, have you had any issues with the warranty if you installed it directly to the battery?
I’ve had a few, and it really depends on what you’re looking for. Something to keep in mind is that it can get really hot outside (like here in Texas), so you’ll want something that can handle that. As for connecting it directly to the battery, I’d suggest using a cheap kit (I got one from Amazon) where you can tap into the fuse box. It’s a cleaner wiring setup, and there are fuses that stay powered even when the car is off.

I installed a Memento 7 front and rear cam. It takes a 4TB SD card and has battery saver mode when parked. You can also link it to your phone, and it has an option for a third cam for inside the cab. It ran about $400 with professional installation.
A friend recommended this one. It comes with front and rear cams: link
Are you going direct to the battery or fuse box? Either way, Viofo seems to be the best bang for your buck.
I’ve been using this one since September 2023: link
As a full-time delivery driver, it works just fine. Unfortunately, the audio isn’t great.
A dashcam is definitely worth it. It’s saved me a few times. I have footage of two of my three accidents. Here’s one.
It depends if you want to keep it active overnight. It might not be the best idea if you park on the street at night in a big city and worry about it getting stolen.
I’m in the second group, so I prefer models with magnetic mounts that can be detached and placed in the glove compartment.
