Kia America sold 796,488 units in 2024, up 1.7% from last year. Will they continue leading sales in the US?

Kia America reported 796,488 vehicles sold in 2024, marking a 1.7% increase from the previous year. It seems they are having their best sales year in America. What do you think – will they keep their top spot in US sales?

I’m sad they stopped making the Stinger.

Blame the shoppers! They didn’t buy them much. It’s a shame. Probably because people didn’t like the idea of a sports car with a Kia badge…

@Layla
Same in Europe, the Kia Proceed is great. They already stopped making the right-hand drive models, and regular left-hand drive models will follow. Edit: by ‘wheel’ I mean steering wheel, of course :slight_smile:

@Amoura
That’s the Forte variant in the USA, right? I own the GT with the 1.6t and DCT. They’ve discontinued it here too. It’s sad. Now it will be a K4, 190 hp, no active exhaust, only an 8-speed torque converter option. It’s going to be slower, but not sure if it handles worse or better. I’m keeping my '21 GT for sure.

@Layla

@Amoura
I don’t get why Kia did this. The Forte was a solid choice, they should have kept it around.

Yeah, my first new car. I’m surprised at how much Kia gives you for the price.

@Layla
I’ve seen 2023 Genesis G70 3.3T with about 10k miles, and it’s cheaper than a comparable Stinger. The 2.5T isn’t bad either (vs. 2.0T). That could be the choice going forward.

It’s a shame I want the hatch, but only the Stinger has it.

@Layla
Engines are the worst.

Glad to see the Soul still doing well in sales. I’m not surprised by the Sportage numbers either. I see them everywhere now. There are five in a five-block radius, including my neighbor’s. I’m the only hybrid though.

@Davis
Is sound insulation better in the new models?

Nice summary. The Sportage is pretty popular.

Wondering what the breakdown is between K4 and Forte. If it’s mostly Forte, it’s interesting Kia would stop making their second most popular car. I really like my Forte.

The K4 is just a rebrand, like when they retired the Optima for the K5. That’s why they combined their sales numbers. K4s barely went on sale in the second half of 2024.

@Davis
Still, it’s an odd move to rebrand your second most popular car.

They didn’t just rebrand it; it looks worse now than when it was called the Forte. I really like my Forte, but I wouldn’t buy a K4.

@Lisa
As a Forte GT2 owner, let’s be real. A base Forte doesn’t look as nice. The GT or at least the GT-line looks a lot better. The little details make a big difference. I’ve seen a few K4s in person, and they don’t look that bad. In fact, they look better than a base Forte. In my opinion, at least! The K4 looks a bit like the K5.

@Layla
I think the square back end is really ugly. My Forte is also the GT2, and I agree on the looks. The sunroof and double mufflers were a must for me when shopping (plus the spare tire was a nice bonus).
