Hey everyone, I’m having a weird issue with my 2019 Kia Optima. The keys won’t unlock the car, and I think the battery’s dead, but I can’t pop the hood to jump-start it because the door won’t open. Has anyone dealt with this before?
If you have a key fob, there should be a small metal key hidden inside it. You can use that to manually unlock the driver’s door.

Thanks, I didn’t realize the key was in there. I’ll give it a try.

Yeah, most newer cars have that hidden key. Should get you inside to pop the hood.
If the manual key doesn’t work, sometimes a bit of WD-40 in the lock can help loosen it up if it hasn’t been used in a while.

Good tip. I’ll try the manual key first and see if that does the trick.
Happened to me once. Make sure the battery terminals are clean too once you get the hood open. A loose connection can sometimes drain the battery.

Will do, thanks for the heads up.
Worst case, you might need a locksmith if the manual key doesn’t work, but hopefully, it won’t come to that.

Agreed. Try the basics first, but locksmiths can help in a pinch if needed.
Once you’re in, you should be able to jump-start it without issues. Good luck.
