The 2018 model was one of the top-rated sedans at the time.

I have a 2016 with the 2.0L and 6-speed transmission that I bought new. It has 150k km, and the only parts that have been replaced are the front brake pads and rear pads & rotors.
I had one as a rental a couple of years ago and it was a nice, competent sedan. It was on my short list when I was shopping for a car last year. It was one of the two affordable sedans that had a manual option and Apple CarPlay. I ended up with a Jetta because of availability, but I’d have been happy with the Kia. Glad the Kia Boyz craze seems to be over now. Take care of your car and it will treat you well.
I have a 2017 Kia Forte EX with 62,000 miles. I bought it with 40,000 miles in 2019, and I love it. My question is: the book says to do some maintenance at 60,000 miles, like flushing fluids. Should I follow the book or just keep changing the oil regularly?

I’d say go ahead and do it!

As long as you’re changing the oil regularly and haven’t had any issues, it’s okay to wait on the other maintenance until you’re ready to flush all fluids. That’s why I let the Kia dealership change my oil—they do a quick check of your belts and fluid levels, and if anything needs attention, they let you know.
I’m driving a 2010 Forte Koup with 130k miles, and it still drives like a dream. I take long highway trips often, and it’s very dependable. I change my oil every 5k-7k miles on the dot. Congrats on your purchase!
