I wondered the same after seeing how overfilled and rust colored the oil was

I was helping my neighbor with hers. She has a metal dipstick and I had to check it several times to be sure
Looks alright but we need more info. Has the oil had time to settle

If it’s at the top of the line, that should be fine. If it’s above, maybe it’s too much. You can drain a little or pour some back in
@Charlotte
If the engine isn’t started yet, the filter might hold some oil
@Charlotte
I added about 4.15 quarts and pre-filled the filter too

Start it and let it run for a bit, then check again. It looks fine to me

Some cars don’t even have dipsticks. My BMW shows the level on the screen

What does that add to this discussion
@Harper
He has a BMW, be happy for him. You don’t want one, trust me
Let’s design an oil dipstick with a tip that blends in with the oil color
Why make a dipstick that looks like oil. They could have chosen a different color

I thought the oil was orange at first
I have the same dipstick, and I find it really hard to read
@Yoon
Is that end of the stick brown plastic? I’ve never seen that before. I’ve checked a lot of dipsticks and they’re usually metal
