Is Kia really ignoring the theft issue going on with their vehicles

I just found out that Kia cars have a major security flaw that makes them easy targets for theft, and it’s been going on for months. Kia has been pretty quiet about it, which makes me wonder if they’re ignoring their customers. I have heard new 2022 Plus models are fine, but what about older ones? This issue seems to affect 2011-2021 Kias with traditional keys. Has anyone else noticed that lawsuits are being filed over this?

Kia’s got a serious security problem on its hands, and it’s frustrating to see how long it’s taken them to address it.

While newer models might have better security, owners of older Kias are feeling the brunt of this issue.

Yeah, I’ve heard about the lawsuits too. It’s a tough situation, but hopefully, Kia will step up and make things right for their customers.

Until then, investing in a steering wheel lock might be a good temporary fix.

It’s not a “flaw” in security. The automobile still needs to be broken into, usually by breaking the window, and then the steering column needs to be completely disassembled. After that, a THIEF—someone who does not follow the law—must turn the cylinder in order to steal the vehicle.

Here, the word “Flaw” is incorrect. Kias made in Canada do not have this flaw. In Canada, engine immobilization has been required for ALL automobiles sold for the past 15 years. In the US, for whatever reason, this was not mandatory. Similar to how Canada made daytime running lights a requirement for equipment back in 1988. It does not render the American automobiles of that time period defective.
