I recently bought a 2022 telluride. I don’t like the adaptive cruise control where it slows down for me when I get within a certain distance of the car in front of me.
Someone told me that it can be disabled temporarily by holding down the button to set how far it lets cars get in front of me.
We tried holding it down and nothing happens, I can’t turn it off.
To be honest, the main reason I want to sell mine is the Kia software. At best, it’s erratic, and at worst, hazardous. Whether it’s swerving into a cyclist I’m trying to avoid striking, slamming on the brakes while backing up, or slamming on the brakes in traffic and getting rear-ended, it will eventually result in an accident. The shift points in smart mode were probably driven crazy by the most recent update as well. Not to mention the internet software that is unavailable to me due to my Massachusetts residency. The only automaker to have a meltdown over our telemetry law is Kia.
You can change how quickly or slowly it responds by adjusting the settings in the dashboard; there are options for fast, normal, and slow.
Alternatively, if you press and hold the distance button on the steering wheel for a few seconds, it should switch to standard cruise control mode. The manual explains how to do this. If I recall correctly, this also turns off lane assist.
If you find anything out, please share! As far as I’m aware, there isn’t a way. I’ve searched through the manual and the forums but came up empty-handed.
