I never thought someone would ask to lower a Kia Sportage

Well, everyone has different preferences… My wife has a disability and it’s hard for her to get into the car. Lowering the Sportage would help her slide in more easily, which would be a huge help.
@MaryJane
But… why buy a high car then?

Before this, we had a Mazda 5 which was perfect for us. I thought the Sportage would have a similar entry height, but there’s a 3-4 cm difference which actually makes a big difference. That’s the only reason.
@MaryJane
If you lower the suspension, do you think the seats will still be low enough for your wife? I’m asking because I drive a Stonic and haven’t tried a Sportage.

I work at Kia service, and I’ve never seen a Sportage lowered, but it could look great. I’d recommend having a suspension shop check it out first and give you a quote. I wouldn’t go for cheap aftermarket parts, though.
Don’t do it.
Why would you buy an SUV designed for good ground clearance and then want to lower it? You should’ve bought a sedan instead.
Get an air ride suspension so you can adjust the height as you want.
Sharkracing.com sells lowering springs for it.
Americans, I guess.

Lol, I’m actually Australian, and my reason for lowering the car is to make it easier for my disabled wife to get in and out.

Wouldn’t it have been easier to just get a lower car like the Kia Niro? I have both by the way.
@ElizaFord
Easier? I don’t think so since I already spent most of my money on this car. Isn’t the Niro a bit small though? I checked out the Hyundai Kona before the Sportage and the windshield was small, and the cabin space didn’t feel right.
@MaryJane
I meant it’s easier to get into. But you’ve already got the Sportage, so it’s a moot point. The Niro is smaller, yes, but you could probably find aftermarket shocks to lower the Sportage.

Oh, I’m sorry then. Usually, it’s young people buying SUVs and lowering them. Apologies.
@Natashawilliams
Nah, you’re good. I get where you’re coming from. I’ve seen some ridiculous car mods, especially in the US. All good, mate.
