Has there been a recall for Kia oil consumption issues?

Is anyone else experiencing high oil consumption with their 2014 Kia Sorento? I’m the original owner with 84,000 miles. I drove just 682 miles after filling up the oil, and it’s already at the low mark on the dipstick. The dealer suggested waiting until the engine fails, then having it towed to them so they can run tests.

I also noticed my Kia Soul uses oil, needing three quarts every six months. Kia considers one quart per 1,000 miles normal. If the dealer is dismissive, consider getting a second opinion to ensure there are no underlying issues.

Over 2 million car owners have faced problems, leading to a class-action lawsuit. Recently, an agreement was reached that could help consumers. If you own an affected Kia, you might get compensation. Here’s what this means for Hyundai and Kia owners.

That’s not normal oil consumption. While some oil consumption is expected, burning through a quart every 682 miles is way too much.

Your dealer’s suggestion is not ideal. You shouldn’t have to wait for your engine to fail before addressing the issue.

I’d recommend getting a second opinion from a trusted independent mechanic. They might be able to pinpoint the problem without waiting for a complete engine failure.

Possible causes could be worn piston rings, valve seals, or excessive turbocharger oil consumption.

hat’s the mileage on your car?

Verify if your car has the 2.4L I4 engine.

If it does, ensure that the knock sensor recall has been addressed. You can confirm this by checking your VIN online or contacting your dealership. If it hasn’t been done, arrange for it to be completed as soon as possible.

Also, remember to keep all your oil change receipts.
