Has anyone ever had their manual gearbox stolen?

In an effort to reduce my monthly payment, I’m searching for a less expensive vehicle than my present one. I saw a good bargain on a 2021 Kia Soul with a manual transmission. I now own a 22 Hyundai, but I’ve always claimed I wouldn’t purchase a 21 or earlier Kia or Hyundai—I’m not a hater—but I believe the manual transmission would assist prevent theft. Does anyone have any prior experience with this?

I personally believe that manual gearbox is one of the most effective ways to deter theft. I’ve noticed that a lot of young individuals who engage in car theft are often unfamiliar with the process of starting a manual vehicle.

A manual transmission can be a deterrent for thieves, but it’s not foolproof. The 2021 Kia Soul is a decent choice, but it’s essential to do your research before making a decision.

Check for any recalls or common issues specific to that model year. While manual transmissions can be fun to drive, they might not be the best fit for everyone, especially in heavy traffic conditions.

If you’re considering a manual transmission for theft prevention, it’s also worth exploring other security options like car alarms and immobilizers.

Yes, just like they can steal an automatic transmission car, thieves can also steal a car with a manual gearbox. Expert auto thieves can still take a car with a manual gearbox, even if they can be slightly more difficult to operate because you have to shift gears and use the clutch. There are other methods that thieves can employ, like breaking the ignition lock, hot-wiring the automobile, or even towing it away.

Last year, my '15 Soul was targeted by some Kia boys. I believe it was my personal intervention that prevented their progress. I still had a busted out window and a destroyed steering column, though.
