Driver seat stuck in recline position... 2019 Kia Sorento

Hey all, my 2019 Kia Sorento’s driver seat is stuck in the recline position, and it’s not moving back upright. It’s a power seat, but there’s no sound when I press the switch, and the motor doesn’t seem to engage. Any ideas?

It could be a loose connection under the seat. Sometimes the wires come loose, especially if something got pushed under there recently.

Good tip, I’ll check underneath to see if anything’s loose.

I had a similar issue. Ended up being the recline motor itself that needed replacing. Not too expensive if you can DIY, but might be a bit more at the shop.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind if it’s more than just a loose connection.

If you have a test light or voltmeter, you could check if there’s any power going to the recline motor. No power usually means it’s the switch or a fuse.

Good point. If there’s power, then it’s likely the motor itself.

There’s usually a limit switch that can also go bad and stop the motor. Might be worth checking if the motor isn’t moving at all.

If you’re still under warranty, it might be worth having Kia look at it to avoid paying out of pocket.
