Hey everyone, I think my crankshaft sensor is acting up. The car’s been running rough, and I’m getting some error codes. Anyone know where this sensor is located? It’s a 2009 Kia Sorento with a 3.8-liter engine. Thanks in advance!
I had a similar issue with mine last year. The sensor is on the transaxle housing, near the flexplate area.

Thanks for pointing that out! Is it easier to get to it from the top or bottom?
@ForteFanatic
It’s more accessible from the top, just FYI.
If you’re unsure, a diagram can really help. I used one to locate mine—made the job way easier.

That’s a great idea. Do you have a link to the diagram or know where to find one?
@Evanson
I don’t have a link handy, but it’s often #8 in the engine diagrams you can find online. Look at the top of the transaxle bellhousing.
Pro tip: double-check your error codes before replacing anything. Sometimes it’s another issue causing the sensor to act up.
