Dealer added spacers to the lower radar and did a recalibration as per Kia’s instructions. They drove it nearly 100 miles without any issues, and I got it back yesterday. I’ve put almost 100 miles on it myself, mostly rural driving, and so far, so good. Everything’s working as it should. Feeling hopeful that this might be the fix!
Great news! I’m curious if the new location of the radar helps with calibration. Maybe it has tighter tolerances for where it needs to be.

I’m wondering the same. For now, the spacer seems to have done the trick, so I’m happy.
Mine was labeled a lemon by Kia. All sensors would randomly go off, sometimes just a few or even all at once. Been waiting since June for my settlement check. My car had this issue from the start, and moving my EZPass didn’t solve it.
@Gordon
If mine had started acting up at 80 miles, I’d have been at the dealer raising a fuss. Mine hit around 10k before this began, and I’m fine with letting them use it as a test case if it helps others. This could be a serious safety issue if not resolved.
@SANDRA
I was 80 miles into a long road trip when it started, but by the time I got to the dealer, it wasn’t happening. My first documented issue was around 3,000 miles, and it was super intermittent. Some days it didn’t happen at all; other times, it stalled the car. It’s been a nightmare.
@Gordon
That sounds rough. Hopefully, you get things sorted out soon. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my fix holds up.
Thank you for posting this! I’ve been dealing with the same issue and looking for answers. I’ll definitely bring this up to my dealer. It’s been worrying me because I’ve got two little ones, and the thought of an accident is terrifying.
Good to know! I’ll save this info just in case ours starts having the same problem.
Did you notice it was more likely to happen on dips or slight inclines? Mine sometimes goes off when parking on a slope, so I wonder if adjusting the sensor helped.

It happened on flat roads as well as dips. We never could figure out what was triggering it.
What exactly is a spacer? Just so I know if I ever need to explain this to a mechanic.

It’s basically a small part you can buy at a hardware store that creates a bit of extra space between components.
@SANDRA
Got it, thanks!
Glad to hear it’s working now!
So is everything still good after testing?

Yes, I’ve been driving it for three days now, mostly on rural roads, and no issues at all. I think this could be the solution for anyone with this problem.
Was it triggering randomly, or did it react to things like the reflective road markers? Mine sometimes picks those up as obstacles.

It was just random, mostly on rural roads. There didn’t seem to be anything specific that set it off.
