Hey all, I’m dealing with some strange issues on my Kia. The lights, both inside and outside, randomly flash when I turn them on, and the car often stalls when trying to start it. Once it’s running, it sounds like it’s revving higher than normal, even when I’m driving at a steady speed. My husband thinks it might be electrical. Anyone else had something like this?
That sounds like a BCM issue. I had similar problems, and it turned out my Body Control Module was faulty. It’s worth getting it scanned to be sure.

Thanks. I’ll look into getting a scan done. How much did it cost for you?

Yeah, mine ended up costing around $500 for a new BCM and programming. Definitely get a diagnostic scan first.
Could be an issue with the alternator or battery too. Flickering lights and stalling can sometimes be a sign of a weak electrical system.

Good point. I’ll have the battery and alternator checked as well. Thanks
If you’re able to get a scan tool, you might be able to get some codes to point you in the right direction. The Autel MaxiDAS DS808 is a good mid-range option.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll check it out.
I had something similar, turned out to be a grounding issue. The ground cable was corroded, causing all kinds of weird electrical problems.

Good catch. Sometimes it’s the simplest things.
For sure have a professional scan done if DIY doesn’t work out. The BCM can be tricky, and programming is usually needed if it’s replaced.
