Black display screen on 2020 Kia Forte... should I replace it?

Hey, my display screen on my 2020 Kia Forte has gone completely black. The fuse seems fine, so I was thinking of buying a replacement screen from Amazon. Would I need to do any programming if I install a new one? Also, any troubleshooting tips before I go ahead and make a purchase?

Before you buy a new one, you should check the connectors at the back of the unit. It might just be a loose cable or power issue. No point buying a new screen if it’s a simple fix.

Good point. I haven’t taken it out of the dash yet, so I’ll start there.

Yeah, checking the back of the unit is always a good first step. Could be a power issue you didn’t notice.

If you do decide to replace it, you might need an adapter kit for the wiring and trim. It’s not always as simple as just swapping the screens.

Oh, I hadn’t thought about that. Where would I find an adapter kit?

I’d check eBay. They usually have decent kits for this sort of thing.

Amazon might have good prices, but make sure the screen is compatible with your Kia model. Sometimes the cheaper ones don’t fit properly or need extra parts.

Got it, I’ll double-check the compatibility before buying. Thanks.

If you’re thinking of getting a screen from the dealer, it might be more expensive but could save you the hassle of needing adapters or extra programming.

Makes sense. I might compare the dealer price with what I’m seeing online.

I’d check to see if there’s power at the back of the unit first. Could be a wiring issue that’s fixable without replacing the whole screen.

I’ll definitely start there. Thanks for the advice!
