Does anyone have an idea about the cost of replacing the tail light cover for a 2022 Telluride?
You’ll need to replace the whole light, not just the cover. That’s how they make them these days.
Here’s a link for replacement tail light assemblies: Replacement tail light assemblies.
@KIADOC
Thanks for the link! I dropped my ebike, and the handlebar hit the tail light, cracking it. I haven’t dealt with it yet, but there’s condensation in there now. I guess I should get on it before it gets worse.
@KIADOC
Quick question—when they say ‘inner’ and ‘outer,’ does that mean the inner is on the trunk and the outer is on the main body? I need the outer, but it seems like it’s out of stock for the 2024 models. Outer assembly link.

Is this site legit? Seems better to go with OEM parts, right?

From the site: CAPA Certified or NSF Certified parts have seals from independent organizations to guarantee fit and quality equal to OEM. Your insurance might require these if they’re covering the repair.
Fixing the mangled metal above the tail light will probably cost more than the light itself. That’s rough.

Yeah, I’m not thrilled about it. A delivery truck was behind me with its ramp up, so none of the sensors went off.
@eug
Aren’t your eyes supposed to be the main sensors?

Normally, yeah. But the ramp wasn’t visible—it dropped right as I started backing up.
@eug
That’s unfortunate. Didn’t you see the truck in your backup camera?
@eug
I’ve been there. I backed into a trailer hitch on a huge pickup. Luckily, I just damaged the plastic bumper and reflector.

That’s a lucky break. I’m going to try to get the truck’s insurance to cover it since it wasn’t my fault.
@eug
If it’s their fault, their insurance should cover it. Otherwise, you’ll need to claim on your own insurance.

I’d rather not go through mine if I can avoid it. But I get what you’re saying.
@eug
If you backed into it, it’s almost always your fault. Sorry to say.

Not in this case—the ramp wasn’t down when we got in the car. You can’t just drop a platform behind someone backing out without putting up cones or warning signs. I checked, and I should be fine.
@eug
If you think you have a strong case, pursue it and let us know how it turns out. I’d check with your agent for advice.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll update you all on what insurance says.
