A parked Jeep rolled into my 2024 Forte... how did this happen?

It’s not always user error. People have been seriously injured from parking brake issues. RIP to Alton Yelchin.

That’s a different case. The Cherokee model had a recall due to a confusing gear shifter that caused cars to roll.

Wait, the guy from Star Trek? That’s awful.

Yeah, it was a horrible way to lose someone.

What makes you so sure this was user error? I don’t see anything in the post that confirms it.

I had similar damage to my Genesis Coupe a few years ago, and the repair costs went from $2k to $8k. The car went over my bumper and caused weird damage.

I’ve had a Jeep too. While I love the vehicle, the newer models are pretty poorly built. It’s a shame because they used to be much better.

Wait, don’t Jeeps have auto hold?

Exactly the same thing happened to my son’s Forte. It’s frustrating that you get a manual and can’t even hold it in place properly.

Wow, look at the damage to the Jeep .

It wasn’t going to be a non-ridiculous vehicle anyway.

Ouch, that’s tough. It’s a nice-looking car, too. Love the blue paint.

Oh my god, that’s awful.

First of all, I’m sorry this happened to you. Hopefully, the damage is fixable. Also, could you clarify if it was user error (like not putting the Jeep in Park) or if this was a mechanical failure? Thanks!

It’s a Jeep. Honestly, I’m surprised it even rolled.

This makes me afraid to park my car anywhere.
