I’m thinking about getting a 2025 Sportage, but I’m torn between the gas or hybrid version. Could anyone share their thoughts on both versions? What are the pros and cons of each?
I bought the gas version because hybrids weren’t available when I was shopping.
Cons: 0-60 feels super slow… Not literally 30 minutes, but it takes a while. The horn is weak, which is funny but also annoying. It doesn’t auto-lock when you walk away from it. Also, it collects a lot of data.
Pros: I like the safety features, especially the signal cameras. The drive is smooth and it has emergency brakes that really helped when a fire truck ran a light. I also love that the back row reclines. The trunk space is huge, and the moonroof is great. For the price, it’s an excellent car.
I get 35mpg on road trips with regular gas, and 26mpg in stop-and-go traffic. Heated and ventilated seats are a nice touch.

I wonder why they don’t have auto-walkaway lock. Honda’s had it for years, and you can add a small module for like $100.

Not sure, seems like it might be a security thing to reduce theft.

Really, having to lock your own car manually is that bad? First world problems at their finest.

Nobody’s saying that, but using your logic, we could apply it to almost any modern feature in cars.
Hybrid is a good choice.
- People say the hybrid, usually made in Korea, feels like it has better build quality.
- The gas version feels underpowered when accelerating, but the hybrid doesn’t have that issue thanks to the electric motor.
- Hybrid offers better gas mileage overall.
- The hybrid has a reset button for the battery if it dies.
@LyamGenesis
Depends on where you are. In Canada, both the hybrid and gas versions are made in South Korea.
I’m on the same page and looking for more opinions, curious to see what others say.

Hoping someone replies soon, I’m not having much luck getting answers.
I’ve had my 25 Sportage SX for about 4 months and I really like it. I have the gas version and it gets 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. One thing I don’t like is that the fancier models only have wired CarPlay, not wireless. Other than that, the car is great. It drives like a luxury vehicle.

Which models offer wireless CarPlay?

The cheapest two models have wireless CarPlay, but the more expensive ones only have wired.

The 2026 models will have wireless CarPlay across all trims.
I have the 2024 gas model and have had it for about 2.5 years. I haven’t had any issues with it. I keep up with the maintenance schedule, and everything runs smoothly.
It handles well in both summer and winter, though it’s a bit slow on the highway for passing. It’s perfect for city driving though. The car feels much more premium than its price suggests, and I get compliments on the interior often.
The main downside is that the mileage isn’t great in winter conditions, only about 18-20 mpg when there’s a lot of snow.
It’s a great car, especially for camping in the summer with lots of space when the seats are down. I’m thinking of buying it out when my lease ends in 1.5 years.
I drive the 2023 X-Line and I love it, but I do regret not going for the hybrid because it’s really sluggish.
I have the 23 hybrid. Lack of wireless CarPlay and the underpowered speakers on the EX trim are a letdown, but everything else is solid.
Dial shifter is one of those features that depends on the person using it.
I have the 2024 Hybrid and I love it. The only minor issue is the remote start doesn’t always work from the key fob. Other than that, it’s a great car. The MPG is great, and the ride is smooth.
My only downside is the space. The trunk is spacious, but the driver’s seat feels a bit cramped, especially after driving my wife’s 2025 Sorento. It’s just a lot bigger inside.
Still, it’s a great car and I love it, especially the Matte Gray color.
@AnthonyWilson
You think the cabin is cramped? How tall are you?
