So my gas door on my 2022 Kia Sorento suddenly won’t open, and I’m thinking the door actuator might’ve failed. I don’t want to force it open and risk breaking anything.
Anyone else run into this? Any tips on how to access the actuator or safely open the door? I looked where the manual release should be (rear driver-side panel), but it’s just a blank panel. Maybe this model doesn’t have one?
It’s covered under warranty, but my appointment isn’t until next week and the dealer is an hour away. I’ve only got 10 miles left on my tank, so I’m really trying to avoid a tow or dealing with a rental. Kia only covers $47/day for rentals, and they’re all $70+ here, so that’s not ideal.
Would appreciate any advice!
Regards…
Make sure the gas door’s fuse is not blown. To find out the location and rating of the fuse, go to your owner’s manual. Electronic components may occasionally be impacted by a poor battery. Try starting the car to confirm the battery has enough juice.
The mechanism may be frozen in cold temperatures. To melt any ice, try applying some heat with a warm towel or blowing it up with a can of compressed air.
