2022 Forte LXS CarPlay/Android Auto Issue

Hey,

I’ve been having this annoying problem with my Forte where CarPlay keeps randomly disconnecting and won’t reconnect until I restart the car. This has happened with two iPhones and one Android device, whether I’m using it wirelessly or plugged into the USB port.

At first, I thought it might be an interference issue since my daily commute is in an F150, and CarPlay cuts out at the same spot every day near some high voltage power lines and a huge radio tower. It usually restarts after a few seconds there. But with my Forte, it doesn’t cut out in the same spot and happens randomly every few drives, no matter where I am. Plus, the radio goes completely black, and if it reboots, it won’t recognize any connections.

I’m probably out of my warranty by now, but has anyone else dealt with this issue? If so, what did you do to fix it?

That CarPlay disconnect is frustrating, especially when it’s so random. You’re not alone; many Forte drivers have faced this.

While the initial thought of interference is logical, it sounds like there might be something deeper going on with your head unit.

Have you tried updating the infotainment system software? Sometimes, a simple software update can work wonders.

If that doesn’t do the trick, a dealership visit might be your next step. They can diagnose the issue and potentially replace the head unit under warranty.

Same old crap. The problem appears to have disappeared after I upgraded the software.
