Hi everyone, I’ve got a 2017 Kia Sorento EX with a frustrating steering issue. The steering tends to ‘stick’ when I turn slightly to the right. It doesn’t return to center on its own—I have to manually bring it back. I’ve taken it to two dealerships, but they say nothing’s wrong. Even my relative doesn’t feel safe driving it. I live in Connecticut and would love recommendations for where to get this properly diagnosed and fixed. Could this be a power steering issue?
It could be an issue with the electronic power steering system. Have you checked if it’s covered under the 10-year/100,000-mile warranty?

Thanks, I didn’t realize it might still be under warranty. I’ll check with the dealership about that!
I had a similar issue with my Sorento. Turned out to be a calibration problem with the steering sensor. You might want to bring this up with the dealership.

Good to know! I’ll mention this to them. Did you have to pay for the repair, or was it covered under warranty?
@Kashton
Mine was covered under warranty, but it depends on the mileage and age of your car.
Did you check the power steering fluid? Low fluid can cause sticking issues like this.

I checked it recently, but I haven’t changed it. Do you think that would help?

It’s worth a shot! Old or dirty fluid can cause issues too, so flushing and refilling might solve the problem.
If dealerships aren’t helping, you could try opening a case with Kia corporate. This sounds dangerous, and they might push the dealer to act.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll look into contacting Kia corporate if I don’t get this resolved soon.
I found a service bulletin about this issue for Sorentos. You might want to reference it when talking to your dealer. Sometimes they need a little push to investigate.

Thanks! Do you happen to have a link or more details about the bulletin?
