Hey everyone, I have a 2017 Kia Sorento LX FWD, and I’m getting ABS codes C1206 and C1209, which seem to point to the rear wheel speed sensors. I recently got new tires, and there are no braking issues while driving. I’m hoping to troubleshoot this myself but am having trouble finding the exact parts online. It’s unclear whether I need the rear wheel sensors or something else like wiring or the wheel hub. Has anyone else dealt with these codes?
C1206 usually refers to the left rear sensor and C1209 to the right rear sensor. It could be a sensor issue or a wiring problem to the sensor. I’d start by checking the connections.

Good to know, thanks! I’ll check the connections first and see if anything is loose.
Some sensors are dealer-only parts, so you might not find them from general parts retailers. I’d recommend calling the dealership with your VIN—they can often look up the exact part you need.

I’ll try reaching out with the VIN. Appreciate the tip.
If the wiring is good, it’s likely the sensors themselves that need replacement. Replacing them isn’t too hard if you’re comfortable with DIY.
I had similar codes pop up after new tires. Turned out the sensor got knocked loose during the tire install. Worth checking the mounting points on the sensors.
You could try scanning for additional codes to see if anything else is related. ABS codes sometimes come in pairs when there’s a wiring issue.
