I’ve looked through a few posts here but nothing seems to match what I’m experiencing. I have a 2016 Soul with about 118k miles, and now that it’s colder at night, it’s having trouble starting in the morning. Some evenings, it won’t start without me revving the engine a bit to get it going.
Could this be an oil issue or maybe something with the catalytic converter? When this first started happening, I added some injector fluid, and I didn’t have any issues for a few weeks. Do I need a new fuel injector?
I’d really appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!
I’ve had similar issues with my Elantra on cold mornings. I changed my PCV valve, and I haven’t had the same issues since. Might be worth starting there.
My 2015 was running rough, and then the check engine light came on. I put off taking it to the shop for a while because I was afraid of a huge bill. Ended up needing 2 coils and plugs, and now it runs like a dream.
@WhisperingWillow
I did see that as a possible fix when it first happened! There are so many small things to replace in an engine. It’s a bit overwhelming.
Sounds like premature engine failure. Mine started like that—intermittent noises when cold, etc. Now it’s pretty much salvage. #kiasucks
Does anyone know how to sell a Kia Soul for salvage? I’ve been quoted $1000. I was thinking of turning it into a go-kart, but there probably isn’t enough room under the hood to drop a new engine that won’t burn oil like a 2-cycle weedwhacker.
@VALENNA
I’m sorry to hear about your car. I’ve been reading your comments, and it seems like this car has really taken a toll on you. It’s been a tough week, and I hope things improve for you.
