2016 Optima Stolen with Steering Wheel Lock—What Now?

Hallo people…

I ran into Target to grab some stuff for the house and my kid, and took a few minutes to cool off in the AC. When I came back out, my car was gone. Checked the cameras, and two guys rolled up, one got out, and they took my 2016 Optima in less than 8 minutes—even with the steering wheel lock on.

Tried calling the cops, but they didn’t answer until the fifth call. Now I’m squished in an Uber with my kid and a bunch of Target bags, just wondering how my insurance is gonna handle all this.Anyone else been through something like this? How did insurance treat you? :smiling_face_with_tear:

Your support on this would be appreciated greatly…

Thieves can get around security systems, even in the presence of a steering wheel lock. It’s critical to take preventative measures to safeguard your car and lessen the likelihood of theft. :weary:

You should let your insurance company know if you intend to replace your stolen car.Incorporate the new car’s information into your insurance.

:grin:Keep a look out for anything in the media or online concerning recovered stolen cars.Periodically check with the local police departments.

Add a hidden kill switch to your car to make it harder for thieves to start it.
Park in regions that are well-lit: Reduce the appeal of your car to would-be thieves.

Give as much information as you can about the theft, such as the location, the time, and the names of any witnesses. :smirk:Get a police report number so you have it for later.
