Hi Guys,
I’ve had major issues with my Kia’s engine and heard Kia might replace it for free under certain conditions. Has anyone gone through this? What conditions are required, how do I start the process, and any tips for dealing with Kia customer service? Any experiences or advice would be helpful.
Thanks…
yes
My 2013 Kia Soul’s original one was recently changed a few months ago. Thank goodness, they had one in no time, and I had my car back in less than two weeks.
I’m going through the same situation. My 2018 Kia Soul’s engine blew out at the beginning of 2023. I was stranded on the side of a busy freeway late at night and had to camp out until morning to get it towed to the nearest Kia service center. I’m the second owner, and the car had 70,000 miles on it. The service center said the repair would cost $12,000. They advised me to contact Kia corporate, but Kia denied the replacement because they claimed I hadn’t done a knock sensor update. They had mailed the notice in December, and my breakdown happened in January.
Kia was rude, never returned my calls, and failed to provide proof when I asked for documentation of my case. They were beyond disrespectful. This was my only car, which I used to pick up my kids and go to school. I had to use a loan from school to pay for a repair outside of the service center, which was about $5,000 less. I feel embarrassed, robbed, and disrespected by Kia and the people handling the settlement. I don’t know how else to escalate this.
Whatever bonus Kia management or the claims team gets for minimizing claims or repairs is not worth it. Have some decency and do the right thing. How can you honestly make a decision to willingly screw someone over just to get an extra point on your year-end review?
As someone who has extensively researched Kia’s engine replacement policy, I can confidently say that Kia may replace your engine for free under certain conditions. If your Kia has experienced engine failure due to manufacturing defects, you may be eligible for a free engine replacement. This applies to specific models like the Sorento, which had a class action lawsuit and recall over engine issues. To qualify, you’ll need to provide proof of regular maintenance and bring your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealership for inspection. If approved, Kia will replace the engine and related components at no cost to you. They may also provide a rental car while your vehicle is being serviced. However, the free replacement is not guaranteed and depends on the specific circumstances of your case. It’s best to contact Kia customer service directly to determine your eligibility and next steps.
Our 2013 KIA Sorento regularly maintained, recently had engine issues and repaired by KIA Service Centre (nearly 8K AED). After 2 days (169km) same engine fault and Service Centre charged 22.5k AED again with no accountability.
Happened with KIA Service in Mussafah (UAE). We requested for waiving of second time charge as it was Repair service accountability that they did not repair properly first time.
