What do you love about your EV6? 10 Things I really enjoy

#3 Really?? You park in the middle of four parking spaces? Come on

Seriously, welcome to the EV6 family. I’ve got a question though, what do you mean by ‘turn on the WiFi’? Is there WiFi in your car?

Seriously, welcome to the EV6 family. I’ve got a question though, what do you mean by ‘turn on the WiFi’? Is there WiFi in your car?

Yes, the WiFi is through Verizon. I had it free for about a month and liked not having to use my cell plan, so I decided to sign up for it. It costs $20/month, but I had to call Verizon 4 times and speak to 6 different reps to get it set up. What a hassle! I even ended up speaking to the business analyst in charge of the program because the customer service didn’t know about Auto WiFi.

About the parking, I know, not ideal. I wanted a shot on top of a mountain with a perfect blue sky, but this was the best I could do last minute.

@EvansBrown
Thanks for explaining. I hadn’t heard of that feature before. I’m in Canada, so maybe it’s not available here.

I also have the white model and I love that it looks like a stormtrooper :blush:

Enjoy your car!

@Natashawilliams
Yep, Canada does things a little differently. We don’t get WiFi hotspot or OTA updates, but we get a 3-year free trial, and we can roam into the US, so navigation keeps its connected functions. In the US, they get WiFi and OTA updates, but the free trial is only one year, and no roaming options, so navigation goes basic when driving in Canada.

The car has the hardware to connect to WiFi, but it doesn’t allow it, which is strange.

@Walton
Sorry for all the questions. You seem to know more than me!

When you say ‘we get 3 years of free trial’, what exactly are you referring to?

The free trial is for the Kia Connect Ultimate plan, which lets you control things like remote start, locking, setting charge limits, and GPS location via the mobile app.

Kia Connect Ultimate is also required for the smart navigation system with traffic awareness and voice commands. Without it, the system acts like a basic GPS from the 2000s.

@Walton
Oh, I didn’t realise it was limited in time. I feel silly now! Thanks for explaining.

@EvansBrown
Maybe they didn’t expect anyone to sign up for the in-car WiFi if it’s that difficult to set up.

I’ll definitely give you a thumbs up on #1, #3, #4, #5, #6, #8, and #10. I agree with you on the others, but I don’t use them enough to add them to my top ten.

I’m coming from a 2022 Niro EV EX non-tech, and there wasn’t any lane-keeping feature, which I really enjoy in the Volvo XC90 with L2 self-driving. I haven’t tried the feature you’re using for stop-and-go traffic yet.

@August
The cruise control works in stop-and-go traffic. It will stop the car completely, and if the car in front moves within 3 seconds, it restarts automatically. If not, just press the CC button or accelerate to get moving again. I actually don’t mind getting stuck in traffic now – it’s pretty impressive.

The lane-keeping can be a bit jumpy. I worry a cop might think I’m drunk with how the car swerves!

@EvansBrown
Yeah, I’ve always known adaptive cruise control to be just matching the speed of the car ahead, nothing more. What you’re describing sounds different, but I think my Volvo XC90 T8 also has something similar, though I don’t use it much.

@August
I just have the regular radar cruise control. I got the 24 Wind RWD with basic HDA, which also steers the car. It’s a bit like having an elderly person driving, but still interesting.

Nice list, I agree with all your choices.

I got mine about 3 months ago and love it as much as you do :blush:
That’s surprising about EVs not selling as much. EVs are so much better in every way.
At least here in California, the situation is better. If things keep going like this, in 5-10 years, you won’t see many ICE cars on the streets. Of my 10 closest friends, 4 have EVs, 3 have hybrids, and 3 have ICEs.

@Lilyharper
I think it’s mostly non-Tesla EVs not selling as much. There are 3 Teslas in my tiny 15-house subdivision, and I’m the only non-Tesla EV here. I probably see 30 Teslas for every non-Tesla. In 4 months, I think I’ve only seen one other EV6 – we waved at each other! I’ve also seen a MachE, Lyriq, Rivian here and there, but not much. I’ve never seen an F150 Lightning.

Some old Priuses around, but I can’t… :nauseated_face:

By the way, one thing I forgot to mention in my list is V2L. I was sold on the EV6 once I found out about it. I’ve already used it twice in 4 months. My neighbors can keep their loud, dirty gas generators. :sunglasses:

@EvansBrown
Yeah, Teslas are still the most popular, but in California, they’re becoming less common. One of my friends has a Tesla, but she wants to get rid of it… Hopefully, after all the issues, sales will keep going down in favor of other brands.

Great insights. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to an EV6. What don’t you like about it?
