Was asked to share this. If your car is under 3 years old or has less than 36,000 miles in the US, they’ll fix it for free. This problem has been happening for a while, and after getting a new part installed, the CarPlay disconnecting issue was gone. If you’re seeing random disconnections, even once a day, it’s worth checking out.
This issue has been around since the first model. Some people figured it out themselves when the dealer wouldn’t help. It’s just a loose connection. Reconnect it and tape it if needed.

I didn’t need to tape it. Just pushed the connector all the way in and it’s worked fine for almost two years.
@Myles
How do you get to the connector?

You can find a guide on YouTube. It only takes around 30 minutes. For me, it was just the connection under the screen that wasn’t fully in. It’s been trouble-free for over a year now.

I was thinking of trying that, but since it was under warranty, I let them fix it. I feel better knowing they replaced the parts.

A service manager told me he had never heard of this issue, even after working there for 9 years. I showed him hundreds of posts about it. They said they couldn’t find a problem, but I knew it was a lie.
Did anyone else read this as Jack Ass-ey USB?

I thought they should see if they have one that’s not ‘jackassy’

Got me laughing too
Make sure to get it fixed while it’s still under warranty.
I had the same issue, but the first service station didn’t want to replace the cable. I went to another one, and they replaced the cable and port under warranty. It’s been fine since then, except now I have a rattle in the trunk.
@YukiJane
I wish they would recall this. It’s an ongoing issue, and people out of warranty are going to end up paying for it.

Here’s a link that might help with the rattle: https://youtu.be/-aIsmYLO6rU?si=RVeRaDrjup2Yryyd

I’ve already done that. The Ioniq 5 has a service bulletin for the rattle. It only happens in winter. The trunk lock mechanism can rattle against the metal.

I’m saving this.
I’ll have to get them to fix it when I go for my ICCU recall. I bought my EV6 used, and it kept disconnecting. I even bought a Wi-Fi adapter, but it didn’t help. Thankfully, I don’t need CarPlay much since I just use Bluetooth for music.
@SchoolInSession
Tell them you used official cables and others with multiple phones, and that you even tried a Wi-Fi adapter.
I’ve got this annoying issue too.

Just schedule an appointment since it’s still under warranty. It got worse for me, especially when it kept disconnecting while using CarPlay maps in the middle of traffic.
