Thinking about painting my brakes... what do you think?

I had just talked myself out of doing this thinking it’s an unnecessary expense. But it does look really good.

Lol, thanks! It’s an early birthday gift to myself. Currently, I’m cutting black mesh screen to fit with rubber U-shape fixing behind the grill to protect the radiator.

@SallyKiaChatter
Did you paint them yourself or did you have a professional do it? I was thinking of just getting a kit and doing it myself, but you really need a way to pull all four wheels off at once, and who has a lift at home?

@Magdalina
You can totally do it yourself. I used G2USA; it uses high heat rated paint. It’s not that hard. Took me about two hours and I spent about $70 for the paint. It’s been holding up really well, and I get compliments on it.

@LebronJames
Isn’t it a two-part paint though? Did you mix it up four separate times? I’m all for DIY, I just don’t have a lift to pull all four tires at once and mix up a two-part before painting them.

@Magdalina
I don’t have a lift either. You can totally do it with just a jack. The paint lasts a while when you mix the two parts. There are plenty of YouTube videos to guide you, and you can do it no problem.

@LebronJames
Did you just put the wheel back on while the paint was still wet? I see it has a 4-6 hour working time.

Yes, the calipers won’t touch the wheel, so you can put the wheel back on. You never have to take the calipers off either. You can paint them right with the caliper on the rotor. Trust me, it’s really not that intimidating. You’ll be happy with how it turns out.

@LebronJames
Alright, I’ll check it out. It’s not the intimidation factor, I work with power tools, paints, epoxies, etc. It’s just that I don’t have floor jacks or jack stands, and I wasn’t sure about doing it with just an emergency scissor jack. But I think I’ll give it a try. Do you think there’s enough paint to do all four?

@Magdalina
Yes, there was enough paint left over, it’s totally fine. Honestly, everyone should own a solid floor jack; those scissor jacks are the worst.

@LebronJames
Integrity Customs in Tulsa did it for me. Got it done in two days for under $500.

@LebronJames
I went with a pro.

That looks really nice! It’s a lot more fun to spend money on that than what I had to spend on home improvements this month.

Priorities, right? Can’t wait for you to do what you want, but home improvements always come first.

Love it, and the Boba inspiration is awesome! Maybe some rocker panel decals with yellow hashes to match Boba’s helmet.

Funny you mention that, I was actually going to do the calipers in yellow. But I didn’t want to hear the Porsche owners complaining about knockoff brakes. Rocker panels, huh? That’s an idea.

And a dent in the hood .

The dents on the side doors will have to do.

Looks great! I’ve always supported painting them. It’s so much classier than those fake covers. I really don’t like those.
