Thermostat replacement on 2020 Kia Telluride... any tips?

Hi all, my 2020 Kia Telluride is overheating even though all fluids are topped up, and there are no leaks. I believe the thermostat might be the issue. I need help on how to locate and replace it. I’ve looked at a guide, but my engine doesn’t seem to match the diagrams provided. Can anyone guide me through the process or share any tips for replacing the thermostat on this model?

The thermostat housing is usually near the lower radiator hose where it connects to the engine. Did you remove the engine cover to get a better view?

Thanks! I didn’t realize the cover might be hiding it. I’ll check that first.

Make sure to drain the coolant before removing the thermostat housing. It’ll save you a mess.

Good point! I’ll grab a drain pan before starting. Thanks for the tip.

If you’re unsure about the diagrams, take a picture of your engine and compare it to the guide. Sometimes there are slight variations depending on the trim or production date.

That’s a good idea. I’ll snap a photo and double-check everything. Thanks!

When you replace the thermostat, make sure to clean the mating surface and use a new gasket. It’ll prevent any leaks when you reinstall it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll grab a new gasket before starting the job.

If it’s still overheating after replacing the thermostat, you might want to check the water pump or radiator for blockages.

Hopefully it’s just the thermostat, but I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the advice!
