Struggling with my Kia's Infotainment System... anyone else dealt with this?

Like others said, you need to update your Infotainment System and then turn off Split Screen. I drive a 2022 Kia Ceed, and the infotainment system is the same (Gen5W). You can do the update yourself; just get a USB stick with 32 or 64 GB. Head over to update.kia.com and download the ‘Navigation Updater’—it’s pretty easy from there.

For my Sportage, go to setup → device connections → phone projection → Android Auto and uncheck ‘use split screen’.

I’ve already done all that. I checked YouTube, took the car to the dealership, and went into the developer settings in Android Auto. I also turned on ‘Allow phone to communicate with car’—but still no luck. Now, I just need to check if my OS is up to date, though I only have an old USB stick and USB C in the car. I’ll keep trying but it’s getting frustrating.

Good luck, sorry it didn’t work out. I found a USB-A/USB-C flash drive that works with both. You can use USB-A on your computer, then flip it to USB-C for the car.

@Lenox
Just like u/Tk8724 said, you need to download the installer on your PC, and then it’ll put the files for your car onto the USB stick. I bought this 128GB stick on Amazon. It has both USB-A and USB-C, and it was only $15 CAD.

This is a very common issue. You’ll need to update the infotainment system.

OP isn’t in the US; they’re driving an Xceed. They’ll need the specific Navigation updater for their country. The country option can be changed in the top right menu on the website you shared.

I don’t have this issue with Android Auto. Maybe try doing a system update on your car.

I already took the car to the dealership, and they said the OS is up to date.

Did you actually verify this yourself? Maybe the dealership got it wrong. I had a similar issue with Android on my K5, and a system update fixed it.

@BrianCopland
I thought I could trust them, but I’ll double-check the version myself. Thanks .

Unfortunately, car dealerships often aren’t reliable. It’s frustrating, but keep pushing through.

I have the same car. I tried upgrading the maps from the Kia website, but that wasn’t the issue. If I remember correctly, I had to disable the split screen in the car settings and then went into Android Auto’s developer mode to change the screen resolution to full screen.

Thank you, I really needed this.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I bought a new Kia Xceed in September, and it’s doing the same thing.

You can change the resolution to full screen in Android Auto developer settings.

Did you try Apple CarPlay to see if it makes any difference?

I use Apple CarPlay in my '22 Sorento, and it’s full screen.
