After thinking about it for months, I’ve decided on a 2024 Kia Forte GT-Line for my first car. It’s priced at $22,000 with about 19,000 miles at a used car dealership. Does that sound reasonable? This is my first time buying a car, so any advice would really help.
Where are you located? If you’re near NYC/Yonkers, I saw a brand-new blue GT-Line with premium packages for around the same price. I almost bought it but decided not to.

I’m in the upper Westchester area. Can you explain what you mean?
@KiaConvoJake
Last month, Yonkers Kia had a blue Forte GT-Line with two premium packages for $22,000. I checked their site just now, and it looks like it’s gone.

Maybe I got that one. I paid $20,000 for mine after a $2,000 discount and added an extended warranty.
@BRANDON
That’s a good deal! How did you manage that?

I saw it had been sitting on the lot for a while, and my credit is good. That helped me negotiate.

Smart move. I learned something new today.
@WilliamMia
Same here.

Wait… how does $2,000 off turn into $5,500 off?

The dealer already had $3,500 off the MSRP on their site, and they took an extra $2,000 off when negotiating.
If it’s not from a Kia dealership, it probably won’t be certified, meaning you lose out on the full 10-year/100k powertrain warranty. You’d only get the basic warranty.

That’s still good to know. Thanks for pointing it out.

Actually, you still get the 5-year/60k bumper-to-bumper warranty as the second owner.
You might want to consider getting a certified pre-owned Forte from a Kia dealership. It’ll have the remaining warranty and give you peace of mind if something goes wrong. That’s how I got mine.

I did this with my K5. Definitely worth checking out.

Thanks a lot for this info. I’ll look into it.

I agree. It worked out great for me too.
It might’ve been a lease return where the original driver went over the mileage limit. My friend had a similar situation and got booted out of their lease, but luckily, they weren’t charged extra.

I’ll be financing mine, so hopefully, no surprises there.
