Mysterious Lock Issue with the 2024 Kia Seltos

I recently purchased the 2024 Kia Seltos, and while I’m thrilled with my new vehicle, I encountered an unusual issue that left me perplexed and a bit concerned.

Yesterday, I decided to grab some tacos. I parked my Seltos, locked it, and went inside the taco place. I was only gone for about 5-10 minutes. When I returned, I unlocked the car, opened the passenger door to get some change, locked it again, and paid for my tacos. Then, I unlocked the car, drove about 80 feet to a nearby 7-Eleven, and locked it again.

Inside the store, I double-checked that my car was locked before grabbing a couple of beers. As I exited the store and unlocked the car, the mirrors unfolded as expected. However, when I pulled on the driver’s door handle, nothing happened. The door was locked.

I repeatedly pressed the unlock button, but none of the doors would open. Interestingly, the mirrors continued to fold and unfold with each attempt. Ultimately, I had to open the back tailgate using the button, which miraculously unlocked all the doors.

While my tacos remained safe and delicious, this incident has me worried about the possibility of getting locked out again, especially in a less convenient or more remote location. I hope to avoid accidentally triggering this car’s mysterious “Konami code” in the future.

great fans,Unlike some cars, you can’t lock the doors from the outside handle after exiting; you need to use the key fob. This can be inconvenient if you’re carrying groceries or packages.
