This is amazing! You’ve given me inspiration! Thanks for sharing!
I love it, keep it up. I have a 2nd gen with my own mods. It’s a 2.0 with 170k.

I started with small mods for security and convenience in a car I owned outright (paid cash, no loan). I’m no car expert and don’t know much about working on vehicles or electronics. I’ve just learned how to solder well enough. Now, I’m getting ready for life on the road, thinking of ditching my current life and heading somewhere else in the country, maybe even Canada. Not sure if a past issue would stop me from crossing the border. My Soul is a small 2012 1.6l, not super fast, but feels safe and reliable. I think it will take me to see the states until my money runs low and I need to find work as a CNC machinist/machine operator. I spent $2000 on this old Soul, but it has a lot of life left and only needed new wheels. Next up might be a new clutch in the next 15k miles, but it feels fine now with 79k miles. I plan to replace it in 2 years but could go longer. What mods have you done to your gen2? I like seeing what others do and why.
@Cindie
I have the same year/spec Soul. Watch the oil consumption. Too much oil consumption will kill the catalytic converter or starve the engine of oil and seize. I had to do a piston soak to fix mine and it’s been good ever since. I also use a quality synthetic engine oil.
Only for a SOUL
Was the center console from a loaded Kia Soul? Can you just go to the pick and pull to get one?

I got it new from Amazon and eBay! It fits right into the back console storage. It gives both front seats an armrest and is a good storage spot with USB charging. Order now and get it tomorrow morning for $53 on amazon
@Cindie
Does your Soul not come with an armrest on the driver seat?

It did not and I will prove it! Lol
Wow this is really cool. I’ve got a 2015 Soul I bought 5 years ago that’s about to get upgrades…

Ghostkey + aftermarket alarm system and keyless entry should be the very first two things anyone install if you plan on keeping the car for many years. Neither will stop the Kia Boyz from causing expensive property damage in attempting to take your soul on a joyride. But the alarm will spook them as soon as a window breaks or door opens while armed and limit damage. While GhostKey completely removes the well known and easily compromised ignition cylinder from the vehicle entirely while replacing it with RFID Enabled passive immobilizer. I’m am confident the only way Someone would be able to actually take the vehicle would be with lots of planning, a crew of people and a flatbed/tow truck. The only way for the encrypted RFID keys being used to fall into someone’s hand would be if the manufacturer of the product became compromised and the unique encrypted RFID keys were stolen and made available for others to create on my duplicate keys with. Not impossible by any means, especially with how often private companies are compromised and private information leaked, but this makes the vehicle more secure than almost any and every car manufacturer puts out to today as the codes are not just available for anyone with access to the correct account privileges or physical computer to have access to the list of keys for anyone to copy/see/distribute as they see fit and transmit keys to the always listening transponder to willing pick up the correct key and grant full unprivileged access to. Shit, sometimes they don’t need the dealership and the key just constantly transmits the key code programmed 24/7 until it comes into range with the correct transponder and give access. someone with some cheapish, easily obtained equipment and enough criminal know how could steal a new modern push to start keyless vehicle by simply waiting until the person is asleep and position themselves somewhere outside of the targets home between the key and transponder and even if the key is outside the transmitter range, boost the signal for further reach or possibly even copy the key being transmitted from the fob and then retransmitted within range of the vehicle form a third device. RFID isn’t perfect by any means but the way it is used here means nothing is being transmitted 100% of the time to something that is always listening for that key over a range of space. You gotta actually place the rfid key card or chip within 1-2 Inches of the receiver antenna for it to pick up or give off it’s code whatever comes into that range. Tldr: Aftermarket vehicle security systems are higher security than any vehicle security system that is preequipped from the dealership 99% of the time and since the point of compromise would be removed from the vehicle entirely installing ghost key. You soul becomes impossible to steal and almost unfuckable with when added security system and a wheel lock(The Club) are put into action. Deterring the Kia boy completely or causing minimum damage.
@Cindie
I’m so my sorry this was long winded and I hope it makes some sense while being somewhere near the line of factual lol

If you ever decide to make a dual level cargo floor I can get you measurements I cut the wood too. It’s not a perfect fill as I left a gap between the hatch door And where the floor ends that’s about 6" as I have a subwoofer hidden under the high level floor and wanted some sound to escape.
Your batteries should be vented to the outside. Like with a little tube.

Why? I purchased AGM batteries/sealed lead acid. My only flooded lead acid is the starter in the engine Bay. Agm batteries don’t produce gasses that require venting.
How easy was the Kenwood head unit install? Thinking about changing out my stock radio.

Replacing the headunit in the 1st Gen Soul is pretty simple. Pop the trim off, unscrew the screws holding the head unit and heat controls q.d everything should pull out pretty easily.
You did such a good job!
