Honestly, don’t get too worked up. Unless KIA builds a new plant in the US, they probably won’t be bringing it here because of high taxes on light truck imports and the lack of space to build it in their Georgia plant. Plus, this is mainly meant for Australia and Europe where people aren’t as engine-focused as we are here in the US.
Tasman’s a compact truck, not a massive F350. Doesn’t need a giant engine that guzzles fuel. The Ford Maverick’s 4-cylinder 2.0L is fine for its size, so this should be too.
I’ve got a ‘22 Sorento with the 2.5T. Used to drive a 2020 Ridgeline. The 2.5T has way more kick than the Honda V6. Way better torque and power, plus the Sorento’s AWD is much better.
But honestly, I’d never get the Tasman – it’s massive and looks ugly to me. I’d go for the Hyundai Santa Cruz if I wanted a compact truck.
This whole post is pretty US-centric… I’m American by the way.
I think a 4-cylinder should be plenty.
