I’m looking for a new commuter car and found a few 2024 Kia Forte LXS models at my local dealer. Since they’re probably trying to clear these out for the K4s, I’m hoping to get a solid deal. Here’s where I’m at after some negotiating:
MSRP: 22,284
Selling price: 21,301
Rebate: -1,000
Fees (Gov & Doc): 596
Nitrogen tires: 99
Taxes: 1,231
Total OTD: 22,227
How does this compare to what others have seen for 2024 Fortes? They’ve got three of them on the lot, and I have a car now, so I’m not in a huge rush. I just want to make sure I’m getting a fair deal, but also don’t want to miss out on the 2024s since I’m not keen on the K4.
A couple of months ago, I bought a GT-line with both premium packages for 21,600. I think you can do better, but be ready to put in some effort. I spent a few days on cars.com, making calls, and found 3 cars I liked. I made offers, and if they didn’t bite, I moved on. Also, don’t be afraid to go out of state. I’m in Texas, but I ended up buying from Arizona. Local dealers wanted 25K, but I saved $3,400 by buying out of state. The plane ticket was $80, Uber to the dealer was $40, and I turned it into a weekend getaway with my partner. We spent around $200 on gas and food, plus a $100 motel stay. Saved money and got a little vacation out of it.
First thing, ask them to drop that Nitrogen tire charge. Also, your price comparison depends on the specific model and location. Which model are you looking at, and where are you located?

Oh, sorry about that, they’re 2024 Kia Forte LXS models.
I think you might be able to push for a better deal. I managed to get a $2,200 discount just over email on the GT line. You might be able to aim for around $21k OTD.

Nice, was that with the $1,000 rebate Kia is currently offering? I’m seeing it like I’ve managed to knock $1k off the MSRP, plus the rebate (I plan to pay aggressively). So I’m close, but KBB shows a market range of $20,206 to $21,296. It bugs me that their base offer is at the high end of that range. I’ve been thinking $20,500 as my trigger point, but they keep saying they’re at their floor.
The sales guy claims he’s hitting my price if you factor in the rebate, but I’m not sure if that’s really a fair assessment.
@Kiatalks
Nope, but I did get a $400 discount through a graduate program. If you want a lower price, try looking at dealerships a bit outside the city or in college towns. They usually offer better deals, and you can use that quote to negotiate with your local dealer.
